Question for the experts
I have an existing Core/Hybrid with a software RAID and I am taking Thom C's advice and others of using a server board and building a new Core/Hybrid then moving to an external NAS rather than a software RAID. Question is after I build the new Core and set the IP address to the addresses I was using on the old core, then just change the IP address of the old core to be able to move the content from the software RAID to the external NAS before converting the old core/hybrid to another external NAS
Thanks

I would suggest buying the new external NAS first. Attach that to the LAN side of your existing Core (with the software RAID) and allow it to be detected and also allow the share on the NAS to be detected etc and choose the 'Use LinuxMCE file Structure' option etc etc. Now just copy your media from the software RAID partition to your NAS (dont forget to copy any .id3 files too)
When thats done you can power down the system and rebuild your Core in the safe knowledge that all your media is on the new NAS
All the best
Andrew
Will do thanks Andrew
