Title: Hulu Desktop Update
Post by: Rukus on August 14, 2010, 02:35:31 AM
Hello All,

I noticed that the Hulu Desktop has a software update, which appears every time I try to watch Hulu on my Diskless MD. I went ahead and downloaded .deb file to my KDE desktop using the link provided, and went through the installation. After a reboot of the MD, I fired up Hulu, and it started running as normal.

Please Note**

I performed this update on a Diskless MD, and not on my core/hybrid. I didn't want to test this out on my main system, and have to rebuild if something went wrong.

Hope this helps

Ernesto

so should this be considered the official way to update  the app? or should I install it to the core and the mds will just work like magic?

I don't want to say yes if the Dev's are already working on getting this updated. I just wanted to let users know that updating it won't completely break their systems.

Do we have any more news on this as I have the same issue on my core?

I did the same as stated above:

downloaded the deb from hulu's webpage and went ahead and downloaed the deb from adobe for flash and did "dpkg -i" on both and worked great.

I did this for every md that has hulu and everything worked great.

**Remember if you download everything to "/home/<yourusername>/Desktop" you'll have that available on your mds aswell; you won't have to redownload it to every md.

Not sure if this process is still required, but here's what I did to upgrade from the terminal:

Hulu

wget http://download.hulu.com/huludesktop_i386.deb
dpkg -i huludesktop_i386.deb
rm huludesktop_i386.deb

FYI

Oops... type.  dpkg not dkpg.

Sorry for the necro-post, but my immediate problem relates to this topic.

I rebuilt my system using the final release ISO, and I installed the Hulu Player. When I fired up the player I received an update notification for version 0.98. I went ahead and updated to the latest, and performed a reload. Now whenever I try to start the Hulu Player, I get a blank screen, as if it's bringing up the player, then it stops and goes back to the orbiter screen (i.e. flicker)

I'm not sure if anyone else is having this issue, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Right now, it's a never ending race to keep the packages up to date... We need help to come up with a solution that will work.

I imagined that was the case, considering you guys are working on the 10.04 roll-out as well. I'm more than willing to help keep this up-to-date, I just need to know the procedure currently used to update the package whenever a new version of the Hulu Desktop is released.

Thanks,

Ernesto

Let us know, so that we can grab it, and put it into our repo.
