After removing the mythtv 0.22 pin references from the preferences file I get the following huge downgrade. Adding them back I see 0 packages need changing.
Is this normal?

Hi..That should be ok..
I would say just upgrade everything besides mythtv first and then myth.

Thanks fastie81.
Should I be worried that it wants to downgrade so many packages and get 440mb of archives just to downgrade?
Barney
do an apt-get install lmce-update-system before the apt-get upgrade. After that, do another apt-get update, and it shouldn't download as many packages anymore. The downloaded packages are not bad, just a waste of time.
Thanks posde. Doing that now.
Barney
Apparently I already have the latest version of the lmce-update-system package.
Guess I'll just have to go for the huge downgrade.
Thanks guys.
Barney
Broke my core.
Going to restore a stable backup.
Barney
Restored backup. All OK for a while.
Ran update and upgrade. Now back to a similar situation as the first post. System now wants to downgrade loads of packages using nearly half a gig of archives. This time I'm not changing the preferences file so mythtv should be locked to 0.22.
No idea what's happening.
Any advice?
Barney
b4rney jump into the irc channel and lets take a look at what is wrong
but what is suppose to happend is that the system grabs the new preference file and limit the dnload to only mythtv debs that are needed for install.
Thanks
Mandingo
Thanks Mandingo, Never done irc but will try to figure it out.
Here is my current preferences file. Sounds like this might get overwritten. Not sure if my problems are mythtv related or not:

Mandingo:
I think maybe you just solved most of my problem. Copied the preferences file you just pasted and my apt-get upgrade suddenly looks normal.
Ran the upgrade with output as follows. Will try and get on irc.
