A Shared Wii?
« on: January 31, 2010, 12:58:09 am »
Just a thought; but on that note I noticed when installing the WiiMote for LinuxMCE that the only way the WiiMote actually communicates with the Wii is by Bluetooth. So if we had a capture card on the core hooked up to the Wii, couldn't we have a bluetooth receiver on the Media Director and then have the core with another bluetooth dongle sending the commands to the Wii, couldn't we use the Wii on any MD? Is this possible or would delay be too bad?

The problem is exactly what you expected - delay.  These consoles are not designed to have their video output or remote input piped around networks.  A capture card generally causes a game-destroying delay of about 5 seconds (sometimes more), and you can add network lag on top of that...  Better bet is to put consoles in each room, and use the built-in network multi-player features.
