thank f*ck for that, finally!

does anybody know if the USB dongle will be compatible with LMCE? the web site seems to imply it is using the Silabs CP2102.... if so, is that all that would be needed to control a Zwave device?

Thats one for Hari...but I would imagine that with luck it will just be a matter of adding the dongles ID's to have it auto-detected. That needs to be tested of course. I will post any info i get on this here early in the new year.

The remote they are using is from Aeon Labs - see this page on ZWave4u http://www.zwave4u.com/products/en/Z-Wave-Controller/Remote-Controls/Mini-Remote-Control.html

All the best for Xmas & the new year!

if we have access to the serial interface on linux (depending on the usb<->rs232 converter) then it should work without issues.

Yes it will (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Z~Series_USB_Stick_with_Z-Wave). The Z~Series USB stick is a modified version of http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Aeon_Labs_Z-Wave_Interface_with_built-In_Inclusion_Remote

dpd - can you confirm, to get this working with LMCE, all we need is the USB stick, and then any number of actual ZWave devices like appliance switches or dimmers? Have you guys actually tested it with LMCE?

I had a quick chat with smarthome.com.au the other day, they have started shipping them, and a few people have ordered (from what they tell me).
They also expect to have some in wall dimmers etc available in the new year!

Cheers

FYI - I have some basic stuff now and can confirm it works with 0810 Beta...(lamp & USB Controller only tested).

Great to hear someone has it working. I've been keeping an eye on the site waiting for the lighting and motion sensor to come out (fingers crossed pricing is decent) so hopefully won't be long now.
