problem with the onscreen orbiter
« on: December 08, 2009, 11:35:46 pm »
Hello!

I've got some problems with my linuxmce installation. I've got it running and almost everything worked as I wanted, until I messed it up. :)

My mayor problem right now it that I've deleted my onscreen orbiter, so I've just got a black screen and my pointer. I did this because I've done it before and then it just poped up again after a reboot, well this didn't happen now. When I go to Wizard > devices < orbiters > this screen is empty but when I try to add a new orbiter I get this message "ERROR: Error creating device. Be sure LinuxMCE is running." I have restarted the computer a few times.
The reason I deleted the onscreen orbiter is that I had the same problem before I deleted it, a black screen with the pointer, don't know how this started..

Another problem I have is that I never have got the HDMI cable to work, right now I use a DVI > HDMI cable and that works fine after pressing 1 before running the display wizard.

Thanks very much!

The black screen is an X display problem usually. I would suggest that you do a reinstallation...

All the best

Hmm ok.. I thought about that but I have two partitions on my computer one mounted as / and one /home and I got lot's of stuff on my home disc.
If I reinstall my computer and choose to not format the home partition, when I install linuxmce 810 what will happen to my files?
