X100P - anyone succeeded?
« on: November 28, 2009, 04:22:40 pm »
Hi,
i digged the forum, found some references regarding the X100P card (for asterisk PSTN), but no conclusion.
The question is: did anyone succeeded in installing it and making it work?
Ok, i could use a SPA-3102, but it's expensive yet (in Brazil), and having one PSTN access i would use it with a X100P card.
TIA,
PAulo

Yes, I thought I posted a walkthrough in the SPA-3102 thread, please search for it and create a wiki if it works for you and make any necessary edits to the process.  I should note that you could do some work to make the card plug n play, but at least verify the instructions I posted work.

I purchased the X100P board today. Will arrive in some days. Well, i will reread the posts about it and try to set it up.
If i get trouble, i would like to get some help from experts in Asterisk and LMCE, and if everything works, i will create the wiki.
Thx

THe X100P is essentially a modem card. It can be problematic to get working well with asterisk in terms of fully supporting line signalling and call quality.  The general advice is to use one of the more modern options.  I say this in an asterisk context, as I have not used linuxmce yet.

Under asterisk we use an E1/T1 digium card for our ISDN32 line, and spa3102's for analogue lines (we also have a GSM gateway for connecting to mobile phones). I can recommend these solutions over X100P's (I had a few, and abandoned them).  I know that people also have good experiences with the modern FXS/FXO digium cards.

You may get an X100P (original or copy) working, they are supported on a legacy basis, but they are not recommended. At circa £50 (UK pounds) I would recommend the SPA-3102.  It's reasonally low cost per incoming analogue line.  It gives you 1 FXS, 1 FXO (allowing you take an incoming line and convert it to a Voip channel for your switch - asterisk in this case, and also provide a Voip to analogue phone output channel - I use it to connect to a DECT base station so that nontechnical users can use an "ordinary phone").  Worth the investment, in my view.

did not get the X100P board yet  :( still waiting.. but also considering to use the spa3102 with pap2t.
but reading the wikis, i saw that the spa3102 is used, but all the configurations i saw uses the spa3102 in the internal network.
Could it be used in the external network, making use of the spa3102 QOS?
if using sap3102 with pap2t, my idea is to have the spa3102 conected to the pstn line and having the pap2t as an extension (in other rooms) connected to the analog phone sets. would it work?
TIA

Paulo
