So, I did a fresh install of 710 from the dvd and noticed that the screen would flicker when the UI was up.  So, I went to update the video driver and now I receive this message after bootup.

Failed to start X

I have tried holding down shift during bootup, but the AV wizard won't show up.  my xorg.conf is set to use the nvidia driver, not vesa.  Any ideas?

Had a similar issue with a intel video card, but had the same start X error, from another device, I had to ssh into my MD and run the command:

 sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Then you can probably hold down shift on the next reboot to get the AVWizard.  Not a dev, so YMMV.

I'm not sure what I did, but I made sure that the driver in my xorg.conf was listed correctly as "nvidia" and I did a dpkg-reconfig... for xorg.conf.
