I can understand your frustration...but asking us about MythBuntu is like asking us about MythDora... we use MythTV but that about the only similarity.

All I can suggest is that you use the MythBuntu LiveCD to see if that fails in the same manner as your installation...if it doesn't then at least you know there is something damaged in your installation.

Thanks for that.  I never thought of running a database fill from the live CD.  Good idea

The problem is with MythTv not Ubuntu that is why i thought you guys might have an idea, as you run a large part of MythTv on top of Ubuntu with the KDE desktop, and my problem is with the MythTV database functionality

No, we really don't.

we only use the TV portion of MythTV, which is maybe 2% of the total system.
