Does anyone know of a good low profile sound card that has analogue surround? I don't know for sure if LMCE supports this but I was just curious. I wan to connect some surround speakers in my living room and I only have an analogue receiver. I took a look at the wiki but I didn’t see much regarding soundcards.

I honestly dont know if you can do 5+ channel analog surround in linux. If anything is gonna work, I would start with a soundblaster live if you can find one.

I have an Audigy 2zs plugged into a set of 5.1 Creative Speakers and that works well.  It isn't low profile though.

I would try to locate a low profile sound card, and then check if the card works with ALSA http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Main

I think I should write something down here.
I am very picky for my sound quality. I read a lot good review about Asus Xonar series and got myself Xonar D2 sound card.
Few months ago I tried it on Ubuntu but did not get my spdif out so I switched to XP and used it for a while and I love it.

Just two days ago. I installed 8.10 Linuxmce and wow.. soundcard work out of the box. I am getting Optical spdif out without any problem. Nothing gets better than this.... Its awesome !!!!!

Hope this helps...

Thanks.
