Re: New Dianemo UI Skin - Available from today
« Reply #240 on: May 29, 2012, 11:30:48 pm »
Hi Andrew,

This new UI looks pretty sweet! Another great update for my Dianemo system, just one question, I'm unable to control Live TV from it? Is this correct?

Kind Regards
Reint.

We have released the new Dianemo UI1 style UI skin today. See the attached Home screen image for a sample of the new look and feel. This UI like our previous 'Red Line' UI is optimised for use with touch based devices and in addition the new Dianemo UI skin is also optimised for use for on screen Orbiters. The Dianemo UI skin features a complete redesign of the graphical look and almost every screen has undergone major layout improvements. We've taken on-board a lot of user feedback and have incorporated that into the design of the new UI. We have additional UI enhancements in the pipeline for the Dianemo UI so look out for these in the future.

Simply run the update script as normal to get this and any other pending updates for your system. Then in Web Admin go to Wizard->Devices->Orbiters and select 'Dianemo' from the Skin drop down. Now click 'Update' and then click 'Full Regen' in the green bar beneath any Orbiter you want to convert to the Dianemo UI. We will be updating the Dianemo S wiki page in the next few days with more details of the new UI and how to configure it.

As with all other Dianemo updates this update is freely available to all our customers running Dianemo S on 11.10 or later OS releases.

Glad you like the new skin.

The new Dianemo UI assumes that your MythTV installation is used for scheduling recordings. The new TV Recordings button on the home screen now displays the UPnP recordings and allows you to stream them to any Media Manager and UPnP Media Players (Media Renderers) that support pushed streams. Live TV is assumed to be something that is delivered via an STB or the onboard tuner(s) in your TV.

So we do not support LiveTV within the Dianemo UI. You can choose RedLine or Basic skins if you need LiveTV support.

All the best

Updates to Dianemo Skin & Web Orbiter
« Reply #242 on: May 31, 2012, 12:39:57 am »
We have released an updated Dianemo skin package today that improves the tab order in the Home and Video Media browser screens. If you you use a keyboard or remote with a Media Manager then the tab order determines where the on-screen high-light moves when you use the cursor keys/buttons.

This update also includes updated Proxy Orbiter binaries that corrects a bug that caused the on-screen high-light to not be displayed in a Web Orbiter and this update also improves the refresh performance of Web Orbiters.

Please run the Dianemo update script as described in the Dianemo S Wiki page to download and apply this update.

We have not tested CEC control with that specific TV but if that model supports CEC fully in its firmware then it should work fine. All the current Sony TV's with IP capability have been tested and work very well.

We don't currently support qOrbiter. You can use this Android Touch Orbiter with Dianemo though; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/AndroidTouchOrbiter and you can see it running on an Android tablet here; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Zenithink_ZT-180

Dianemo S - Now Shipping World Wide on Ubuntu 12.04LTS!
« Reply #247 on: June 06, 2012, 09:22:20 pm »
We're excited to announce the release of Dianemo S on Ubuntu 12.04LTS :-)

We will be in 'Beta' mode on the 12.04 release for about 30 days which mean there may be some issues still... but no deal stoppers are expected. Existing users can upgrade their systems to 12.04 at any time (see the Dianemo S wiki later this evening for details). As ever if you hit any issues please let us know and do expect regular updates during the next 30 days as we address any issues during the 'Beta' period.

As ever we hope you enjoy the new Ubuntu 12.04LTS support in Dianemo S.

All the best

Updated & Improved Intel GPU Suppurt
« Reply #248 on: June 08, 2012, 11:34:23 am »
We released an update today that improves the way we handle the setup/detection on Intel based GPU's. The AVwizard should now handle the detection of the connected display and do the right thing with resolutions etc.

See the Dianemo S wiki for a note on the new Intel support for a specific work around related to booting without a display attached; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S#Using_Intel_GPU.27s_on_Ubuntu_11.10_or_12.04LTS

As always please see the Dianemo S wiki page for details of how to keep your Dianemo system updated; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S#Updating_Dianemo

Dear Andrew,

like written in the wiki i did a fresh install of 12.04.
After that i used the license and installer 1.11 (self updating?), to start dianemo installation.

it suddenly stops with installation failed. Just before it couldn't fetch some things from ppa.launpad.net/nkoegler/

Maybe you have a newer installer?

Yes, the installer is self-updating - the idea is to run the latest installer no matter what. Unfortunately, this happens after that PPA is added. It is no longer added in installer 1.16, but if you have it, you must remove it yourself. Just remove all /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mkoegler* files. You should have the new installer in your /usr/pluto/deb-cache right now (it was downloaded before the PPA was added).

Dianemo S - Updates & OS Upgrades
« Reply #254 on: June 11, 2012, 03:39:46 pm »
As we've had a lot of people ask us recently about how our updates & OS upgrades work I thought I would just post something here to clarify how it works;

Simply put...once you purchase a Dianemo S license you get free regular software updates (usually there are several every month) and we track Ubuntu OS upgrades as well now so that roughly every 6 months (usually about 4-6 weeks after the Ubuntu release) we will release support for the new Ubuntu OS. Tracking the latest Ubuntu release means that your system can always benefit from the latest software technologies and capabilities. Upgrading to a new Ubuntu release is also free and is just a matter of using the standard Ubuntu OS upgrade tool. As part of the Dianemo software we provide an update script that you can run as often as you like and this will safely update your installation with the latest Ubuntu & Dianemo software updates so that it is always up to date.

Basically Dianemo S installs cleanly on top of the Ubuntu release chosen, normal Unbuntu updates work as they normally would - and its this harmony that allows us to build and integrate Dianemo very smoothly on top of Ubuntu. Because of this we expect to be able to deliver a lot of new capabilities on top of these new OS technologies and also to support some exciting new hardware in the future.

If you still have questions about Updates, OS Upgrades or anything else to do with purchasing a license please get in contact via the Forum or post here in this thread. If you are already a license holder please post your question in the 'Installation Issues' section of the forum.

All the best
