ok. I do know that older Denons and Onkyos do have high power usages. Nice that some HDMI chipmaker has finally found a way to limit the hunger for the electrons.

Andrew, do you have any idea about power consumption of VieraLink devices, or, for that matter, other hardware? (is there a place to find detailed info on CEC for example?)

Check the manual. At least the Denons do provide that information lately.

As Posde says either check the manual or the manufacturers web site... and typing 'HDMI-CEC' into google is always good idea ;-)

Of course I already did that. As fast as you guys are answering, a google search stills beats the forum most of the time. But my manual (panasonic 2008 tv) does not mention CEC at all (let alone power consumption) and after many google-runs, I found that Panasonic VieraLink is basically their name for CEC. I'll contact Panasonic I guess.

We have released an update that replaces the Orbiters progress screen with a much improved one;

We replaced the X11 progress screen/bars with SDL progress bars similar to the one you see on startup on UI1 already (as you probably noticed, you don't see it on UI2 - it was disabled in code). Now in UI1 & UI2 we have a single progress screen design that has a much improved visual layout and is based on SDL rather than the old 'bolted' on X11 progress window. These progress windows are displayed by the Orbiter during a regen or a reload router.

More updates on the way... new ZWave binary & a new Dianemo UI Skin...

All the best

Hi,

thanks for efforts. If I may add, there are still some things that at least I'd like to have them differently regading UI (I'm using Dianemo (dark) skin) :
1. UI1: Media button that displays current media name is in gray color on virtually black background - and cannot be seen...
2. On interactive floorplans all texts are written in white, so one should have really dark backgrounds to see anything... Any chance to give choice of black or white to user ? I had black colour on 7.10 and visibility was better.
3. I miss more floorplans on UI1 (only 4 currently - there are approx 350 parameters flowing from home automation to Dianemo and I miss more floorplans - there are 8 floorplans on UI2)
4. On UI2 floorplans are still overlapped (this is the same as it was for me on 7.10). That means that when you click on some light on floorplan, you get "fast movie of all floorplans" and then the right one shows....

Hope this helps a bit,

regards,

Bulek.

Hi Bulek,

Thanks for your comments/suggestions above. I think you'll find that the new UI Skin will address those readability issues that you raise. With reference to dynamic customisation...the current Orbiter and UI built on top of it do not allow for any dynamic customisation of colours or other attributes unfortunately - they just were not ever considered when Pluto designed the original architecture. The floor plan issues are of a more structural nature and cannot easily be addressed in the current UI's built on the current Orbiter. Again these are really only addressable by a re-engineering of the Orbiter. These types of issues will be looked at and addressed in a future overhaul of the Orbiter and how UI's are built overall with it.

All the best

This update improves the way we handle the installation of the nVidia package & Kernel headers. This is especially relevant on slower Atom based MM's where it could sometimes appear that your MM had locked on setup or during an update. In addition to some re-engineering of the code handling this we also now display a message in the console informing you about what's happening.

As ever follow the guide to updating your system on the Wiki; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S#Updating_Dianemo

As part of our forthcoming support for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS we will not be providing any more updates to the Dianemo S Ubuntu 10.10 Repo after the 7 May 2012. The Dianemo S Ubuntu 10.10 repo will remain available after that date but it will not receive any further updates. Any system still running on Ubuntu 10.10 will continue to function as before but we will not be releasing any further updates for that release after the 7 May.

Anyone still running Dianemo S on Ubuntu 10.10 should consider upgrading to Ubuntu 11.10 or soon Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (see the Dianemo S wiki page for details of how to upgrade; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S#Upgrading_an_Existing_Ubuntu_10.10_System_to_11.10). All existing Dianemo S customers can freely upgrade to any newer release of Dianemo S at any time.

All the best

We have released the new Dianemo UI1 style UI skin today. See the attached Home screen image for a sample of the new look and feel. This UI like our previous 'Red Line' UI is optimised for use with touch based devices and in addition the new Dianemo UI skin is also optimised for use for on screen Orbiters. The Dianemo UI skin features a complete redesign of the graphical look and almost every screen has undergone major layout improvements. We've taken on-board a lot of user feedback and have incorporated that into the design of the new UI. We have additional UI enhancements in the pipeline for the Dianemo UI so look out for these in the future.

Simply run the update script as normal to get this and any other pending updates for your system. Then in Web Admin go to Wizard->Devices->Orbiters and select 'Dianemo' from the Skin drop down. Now click 'Update' and then click 'Full Regen' in the green bar beneath any Orbiter you want to convert to the Dianemo UI. We will be updating the Dianemo S wiki page in the next few days with more details of the new UI and how to configure it.

As with all other Dianemo updates this update is freely available to all our customers running Dianemo S on 11.10 or later OS releases.

We've just added a new section to the Dianemo S wiki page describing how to configure the Photo Screen Saver (pss) to allow you to use the static or animated version with any UI;

We've released and update that adds support for wma streams to LogitechMedia server. These are commonly used for live streams by many radio stations and up to now were not supported under Linux our patch adds the support required for these streams. Currently these wma radio streams, and other radio streams, can only be streamed from inside the LogitechMedia servers Web UI (which can be accessed from Web Admin) - simply choose the Squeezebox or Squeezeslave device and then select the wma stream of your choice. We do expect to have support for these streams from inside the Orbiter in a future update.

To get the latest updates for your Dianemo system follow the steps outlined in the Dianemo S wiki page here; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Dianemo_S#Updating_Dianemo
