Dianemo Athena UI & Orbiter Preview - Updated Released
« Reply #450 on: March 05, 2015, 05:10:20 pm »
This update fixes a number of small bugs, fixes some layout issues in the UI and now supports Kmotion too. If you have configured Kmotion security cameras in Web Admin your new Athena Orbiter will display a 'Cameras' button in the top bar for any rooms you have elected to make them accessible in.

Please run the Updater script as usual to install this update and any un-installed Ubuntu updates too.

All the best

Great update Andrew,  and all working as expected with Web Browsers and iPad app.

Is is a large update though, and even on FTTC internet connection and fast hardware, it took something like 30mins to complete the update.
(my last update was ~7 days ago)

Thanks. Glad your enjoying the new Orbiter's.

Strange that your download took that long. I've had no other reports of that from other users. I wonder if your update contained a lot standard Ubuntu updates too?

Dianemo Athena UI & iPhone Orbiter Preview
« Reply #455 on: March 19, 2015, 10:24:15 am »
I've posted some more early UI screens from testing we are currently doing with Beta builds of the new iPhone iOS App. This time I have two new images of the new responsive screen layout for the Sky TV STB Remote screens (this is a very popular European STB/PVR for accessing the Satellite based Sky TV service).. On smartphones with < 5" screens we implement a swipe left/right gesture to allow the user to navigate to all the screens related to this device. In most cases there are two screens. Swiping between the two is fast and a familiar gesture for phone UI's. In these screens we are testing the best size/scaling of the screen elements (all graphics are svg's so they can be scaled in real-time to any size required by the device the UI is rendered on). Note these screens and the others I have posted are still not finished and contain some layout errors - see the status area at the bottom of these screens for example.

I'll post more of these images as we debug both the App and the Responsive Athena UI Skin for iPhone.

Update Available - Insteon
« Reply #459 on: April 30, 2015, 02:27:45 pm »
We now support the Insteon PLM-2413U and any devices it supports in Dianemo - a much requested update. If you have an existing set of devices added to your PLM-2413U then they will be detected and automatically imported into the Dianemo device tree as child devices of the PLM. The device template is #1932.

Insteon devices are fully compatible with the new Athena Orbiter and UI.

Please run the updater script as usual to update your system.

Dianemo Revealed - Adding Internet Radio Stations Presets to Athena UI
« Reply #460 on: April 30, 2015, 02:54:09 pm »
Hi all,

Below I have described how easy it is to add Radio Station Favourites (ie Presets) to Dianemo's Athena UI. Add as many as you like, complete with the stations official icon, and in Athena these changes are available in your Orbiters immediately without needing a Regen or a Reload too.

Adding Radio Station Favourites to your Dianemo system;

From Web Admin use the menus to select the following; Advanced->Configuration->Slim Server

You will now see the Logitech Media Server (LMS) main configuration page. Simply follow the steps below to add as many Radio Stations Favourites to the Athena Radio screen as you like. These Radio Favourites will appear in any Room or Entertainment Area that has audio capability (you will see a Radio icon in the Orbiters Icon bar);

- Firstly click on the triangle next to 'My Radio'
- Next use the icons that displayed beneath the triangle to find the station you want to add as a favourite
- Tip - 'World' is useful for international stations
- Keep drilling down until you find the station you are looking for, then hover you mouse pointer over its name. You will see some icons appear to the right of the station name, when you hover over it - click the 'Heart' icon to make that station a Favourite (you will see a '-' will appear on the icon after you click it to indicate that if you click on it a second time it will be removed from your Favourites)
- Now click on the triangle next to 'Favourites' and you should see all your currently saved Favourites (*Note to remove a Favourite you need to find it again under 'My Radio' as described above*).

Now if you go back to any Orbiter and choose a Room with audio capability you will see the Radio icon in the top bar. Click on Radio in the top bar and you will see your Favourites listed as station icons with names. Select any Station Icon and it will play in the Room you currently have selected in your Orbiter - you will also see information about the current show being broadcast, including the currently playing track and DJ etc (this information is dependent on the station selected - not all stations provide this information), and there will be audio volume controls displayed at the bottom of the screen in the controls bar.

You can switch rooms without interrupting the music playback, and can start streams playing in other rooms or entertainment areas too.

Enjoy!

All the best

Andy

Dianemo X86 14.04LTS now supports Airplay Audio from your iOS devices to any Squeeze audio zone. This is a truly great update for anyone with iPhones, iPad's or who wants to stream Airplay audio directly from iTunes too.

Simply open any iOS music App, play some music, then select the Airplay icon and you will see a popup list of all your Airplay 'speakers' (these are all of your Squeeze based audio zones on your system). Choose an Airplay speaker and your music will stream to that zone from your iOS device.

Other than making sure your Dianemo audio zones have a volume level set there is no need to even use an Orbiter to have Airplay music streams work. This is perfect for guests, or anyone, who is un-familiar with your Dianemo system as they simply need to know how to use Airplay for this to be accessible to them.

Tip; Your iOS devices need to be on the Dianemo LAN side Wifi network for Airplay Audio to work.

See here for an earlier post on this new Dianemo X86 14.04LTS feature;

Update Available for Ubuntu 14.04LTS - Device Template #1790
« Reply #462 on: May 28, 2015, 10:40:43 am »
We've updated device template #1790 - Internal HDD overnight for those of you running Ubuntu 14.04LTS. One difference between Ubuntu 12.04LTS and 14.04LTS is that the newer OS does not use HAL any longer. This caused new Internal HDD's to fail to add correctly and there mount points were not created. We have updated the supporting code for template #1790 to accommodate the removal of HAL.

This update is now available as usual simply by running the updater script - any other pending Dianemo or Ubuntu updates will also be installed;

Code: [Select]
/usr/pluto/install/dianemo-software-update.sh

We've added support for Zoneminder to the Athena UI on Dianemo X86 14.04LTS. See the link below

I've posted some screen-shots here - http://wp.me/P4KgIc-aF

Configuration Tip;
If you have an existing Kmotion configuration then you will need to transition your cameras over to Zoneminder. Make a note of there IP/Mac addresses and any settings/urls you have configured for each camera. Next add a new Top Level Device (ie above your Core in the Devices Tree) of type 'Generic IP Device' #2068 - create one of these devices for each of your cameras and add the appropriate IP/Mac adresses and save the changes. The Generic IP Device will assure that your cameras remain at the IP address they had already been allocated by Dianemo's DHCP server. Once you have created new devices for all your cameras you can delete 'Motion Wrapper' from your Devices Tree (if you don't delete it all your orbiters will display a camera icon for Kmotion still).

As usual simply run the updater script to install this Dianemo update and any pending Ubuntu updates too;

Code: [Select]
/usr/pluto/install/dianemo-software-update.sh

Update Available - SqueezeLite 1.8 released for Dianemo X86 14.04LTS
« Reply #464 on: May 29, 2015, 01:20:13 pm »
We've released an update to Squeezelite to fix a ffmpeg/ABI issue we noticed in systems that had updated from Dianemo X86 12.04LTS.

Ubuntu 12.04LTS shipped with SqueezeLite 1.3 and systems that were updated to 14.04LTS got stuck on 1.3. Unfortunately SqueezeLite 1.3 is not compatible with 14.04LTS and will cause excessive processor load if not updated.

As usual please run the updater to update your system and to install any other pending Ubuntu updates too;

Code: [Select]
/usr/pluto/install/dianemo-software-update.sh
Dianemo X86 will stay on SqueezeLite 1.3 as this is the final release from Canonical for that release of the OS. However if you'd like to have a try building your own SqueezeLite 1.8 package for Dianemo X86 12.04LTS then be our guest - see below. However on 12.04LTS I should point out that as far as we can see there is absolutely no advantage in having 1.8 installed...which is why we have not built a 12.04LTS deb.

Note this is only if your still running Ubuntu 12.04LTS and have some spare time!!; If your feeling brave and want to try building SL 1.8, then you can get the code from our fork: https://code.google.com/r/raducx-squeezelite-ubuntu-deb/

Then;
Code: [Select]
dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -b -us -uc
the code is vanilla 1.8 with Debian package stuff added on top;

...and fix the things that are complained about - keep doing that until it works ☺
...and then install the deb.

Enjoy!
