fs2ck on webdt366?
« on: August 29, 2009, 12:12:47 pm »
Hi,
Does anyone know how I could run a file system check on my webdt366?
Before I junk it due to an internal memory defect, I want to know if this problem is permanent!
Thanks,
Mark

connect a keyboard, and keep pressing esc until the grub boot menu comes up.

edit the kernel line to add single to boot into single user mode

once you see a shell, you can

Code: [Select]
mount -o remount,ro /
e2fsck /dev/sda1

-Thom

That did not work, since the system would not boot to the point where it could present a shell, instead kernel panicking halfway.
But your instructions inspired me to try the same with the image that I had copied to the USB stick, and I could boot that one with a "live single" options. Running the check now, lots of errors already!
