Hi maverick0815

The only difference I saw was

03:00.0 Network controller: RaLink Device 0781 on fastie81 machine.

The RaLink device is probably the wireless adapter...I switched mine off since I updated the BIOS last week. Before this option wasn't available.

I have done nothing with my wireless...
so that could be it..
I have to give you all an update...

I have reinstalled my core last weekend, this was after the changes that was put on for the HDMI. And of now I can't get my md's to work.. however this is not relating to a kernel panic.

I get an error on the LaunchManager scrip.. I will create a new post for this..
I have had my MD's working on it before with about 3 installs. I only had to do the xorg.conf file.
Will give you updates when I get it sorted..
Chris

hmm...I'm beginning to get superstitious. Perhaps I should download Kubuntu again. I downloaded it from a german mirror, maybe there is something up with that. I simply don't know whatelse could cause this.

I followed the instructions, as they were written down
aptitude update
aptitude dist-upgrade
then I did a reboot, downloaded the script, unpacked it and let them run in the prescribed order

o ok..
Well if you fully updated the system then I really don;t know what is going on.
I can just say that it does work.. As I am setting up my second one up now again..
There must be something that we are missing..
Are you planing a re install of your core again at some point?
Cause I think if you send me a log off everything we can have a look and see if I can pick up something before you going on?
That is not that I want to hold your had and saying that you are doing something working. I just want to get you to get it working..
So let me know then we can plan it out.. from step one..

I'd have no problem setting it all up again, if needed. I also want to get the thing going. If we find out what goes wrong on my end, perhaps we can safe some poor sods out there, who might run in the same problem. However I will start by getting another Kubuntu image from an english mirror. I don't know if there is any kind of localisation or deviation from the standard on the german sources.

ok you do that.. then after the install I want you to do this..
Do not update just yet.. just do a clean install.
then after that go to the terminal and type in
sudo su -
aptitude update > update.txt
then when the promp comes back you run this one
aptitude dist-upgrade > upgrade.txt
After this you will find two txt files in /root/ folder..
Send me that two txt files..
Then I can look at that first before you do the lmce install..
In the mean time you can download the new-installer-alpha-latest.tar.gz
but don't install anything until I get back to you..

damn it, guys.

Let's actually try to get this working PNP in 0810. Please. The code is available, inluding all the startup scripts...

-Thom

We have the Eee Box working PnP now Thom under 0710 & 0810. I will check with Uplink on Monday whether those changes were committed to the svn (I thought they had been)...if you see him online mention it to him ok?

All the best

Just 30 minutes ago I finished another install from the scratch. I really was hopeful, when I came back from my vacation, as I  read about the huge update. I am truly sorry to report, that the problem remains the same for me
At first it seemed as if it might be okay:
Quote
r8169: eth0: link down
r8169: eth0: link down
r8169: eth0: link up
then a few lines later this:
Quote
IP-Config: no response after 60 secs- giving up
/init: .: line 1: can't open /tmp/net-eth0.conf
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
So...I don't know..perhaps I'm just stupid, or something...if I can provide any information...logfiles or whatever, please tell me and I will provide it.
thanks

since nobody seems to have any idea what causes this, I will start changing the hardware in my core soon. Right now I'm acquiring a new mainboard -asus m2n sli deluxe- it has two nvidia nics onboard, so I'm hoping to bypass any confusion with eth0 and eth1. Other than that I'planning of putting a athlon 7750+ x2 2 gbyte ram and a nvidia9400gt in it. That should settle me for the foreseeable future.
