Author Topic: Getting the WebDT connected  (Read 465 times)

Hi all,
I am sure I'm doing something wrong, but I STILL cannot connect the webdt to my wireless. I have a nokia n800, which works fine. So let me try to write down, step by step, what I tried.
1. Boot up the webdt. No wireless, so it dumps me in ratpoison.
2. Push the network-config button on the bottom, type in the ESSID case-sensitive, select WEP, type in key1.
3. No go. In iwconfig, I get an invalid AP, but the ESSID is correct.
4. CTRL t, .   and select bash terminal
5. touch /etc/network/configure_me
6. Set everything again.
7. ifdown eth0
8. ifup eth0

I get some errors here in step 8. Could someone show me the results of their steps 7 and 8, so I know which output to expect?

Thanks,
Mark

1. Are You using MAC filtering?
2. Is Your network setup dual network cards?
3. did You change default cores adress (192.168.80.1)?
4. Has Your AP DHCP disabled?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
1. no
2. yes
3. no
4. yes
Please note, I can connect a Nokia N800 without any problem at all to the very same wireless network. The webdt seems a little inconsistent in its behavior (e.g., with WEP I do not get a valid access point, but with WPA/PSK [not supposed to work!] I did get the correct access point in ifconfig/iwconfig -- although no DHCP lease somehow).
I would like to see what is supposed to happen, line by line, so I can concentrate on where the output deviates from what it should be.
Thanks again,
Mark
