Hello everyone, I needed to exercise my designer side for a bit, so I threw together some sketches for screens to replace the MythTV screens we are currently using for the Schedule, and Guide buttons. Starting with Schedule. As usual, I am starting with the Normal Horizontal variation, and implementing the needed pieces, before moving to others. The UI for the Schedule screen will be tab based, Here is the Upcoming Recordings section, hopefully self explanatory: http://www.localeconcept.com/pub/new_pvr_screens/Upcoming%20Recordings.pngThese are rough layouts, using the existing Basic graphics. -Thom

Program Finder initial screen here: http://www.localeconcept.com/pub/new_pvr_screens/Program%20Finder.pngYou can select the first letter of the program you are attempting to find, up top.. This causes the data grid on the left to populate, with TV shows beginning with those letters. Once you have selected a show on the left, the right populates with show times. Selecting a show, will cause the Recording Details page to appear.

These screens are looking great. I guess the button graphic for 'Browse Lists' needs re-designing as it doesn't convey its function...but thats a very very minor detail that is easily fixed. One thing we were discussing here recently is the idea of adding a standard way to get at simple 'help' screens that are displayed on the Orbiter. These could be used to explain what functions are available to the user. Nice work, Andrew

and i think that we should exchange the text buttons with speaking images - one after one, and have a consistent image look into the gui. Would make things like translation and foreign letters/languages/charset much more easy.
i am currently started with collecting some symbols which can be used for search, movie, audio, list, settings, options and so on.
just my idea

also fellas, keep in mind, that i am deliberately using the Basic graphics and not designing new bits, we need to seriously re-do basic's entire look.

New Sketch Posted below, http://www.localeconcept.com/pub/new_pvr_screens/Program%20Details.pngAfter you select a program, the Details page will appear, where you can select: * How will recordings be scheduled? (look at mythtv's options for more info) * Whether to record or not, if you choose to record, then the recording and storage options appear, showing: * Who will this recording belong to, either privately to a user, or publically * Where will this recording be stored? You can then tap back, to go back to the results to select something else, or tap home, to go back to the main menu. -Thom

These look fantastic! Defiantly another good reason to move across to myth!

Well, While these screens are being tested against myth. They can be implemented across any PVR we wrap, so long as the necessary scheduling options are added to CMD_Schedule_Recording() for the plugin.

I was inspired by the layout attempt here and came up with a possible design: http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=8522.0Feel free to weigh in.
