Hello all,
Was just what wondering what the advantages/disadvantages of these two units are?
From what I have read, the viaSENS is the RECOMMENDED unit for Europe. However, the Aeon Labs one has a built-in inclusion remote. Am I right in saying that in the case of the viaSENS, you would have to purchase a separate inclusion remote? Is the Aeon Labs unit "plug & play" in 0710?
If the answer to these two questions is 'yes', then why would you want the viaSENS over the Aeon Labs unit?

I am pretty sure that the Aeon Labs unit is the same as the Micasaverde ZWave stick...so it should work if that is the case. The ViaSens seems to have better range down to its more sophisticated aerial design and is by far the best built unit... but has older firmware and does not support SIS mode. Andrew |

What does 'SIS' stand for, and what does it mean?
Does the "built-in inclusion remote" on the Aeon Labs unit work as it should? Because that is another expenditure with the viaSENS right?

Hmmm...does it. When we last tried one our units (with your assistance) the ViaSENS did not handle SIS correctly. Was that a function of the driver version at the time? Andrew |

I've implemented the SIS bits with the Seluxit controller. It's just that the remote you are using does not enable SIS properly sometimes with the download config step to set up the SIS for the network. So I prefer to use the DCE "Add Node" command sent via web admin. But that's not available in 0710 yet.

Just to Confirm the Aeon Labs and MCV Sticks are the same. MCV buy them from Aeon Labs

With the viaSENS you need and inclusion controller to include devices with. Andrew |

Thanks for the replies chaps.
Think I may go for the MCV one in this case - I understand that it's not as well built and that the antenna is not as sophisticated as the viasens, but generally speaking it sounds like it's going to be a lot easier for me to handle with regards to adding devices (not to mention cheaper).

that depends. A network with a SUC/SIS gives you much better reliability.
