Hi guys, not sure if I have this in the right forum. If not oops.

I was toying with the idea of ways to re-use my 4 old xbox's that currently run XBMC. I wanted to use them for media directors. Now we all know it is not possible to run the MD on this particular device. How about we look at it from a different route. IE run the MD's as a virtual machine on some virtual machine server (VMware or VirtualBox) then install xebian or some xbox variant of linux onto a xbox. Then using the xbox display a remote X screen from the virtualised MD onto the xbox. If I have read correctly on the net when you view a remote X screen versus a VNC share, the remote X screen uses the clients X server and display capabilities to render the output. Hence allowing 3D. I know you would not get HD but for a SD MD this could be quite a elligant solution.

Any ideas or comments?? IE I'm dreaming?

Why make your life that complex?...It sounds like a lot of effort and 'software layers' to me. However if you think its something you'd want to experiment with then...give it a go and prove its possible or impossible ;-)

All the best
