Re: USB UIRT in 0810? [Solved]
« Reply #15 on: August 12, 2009, 09:39:38 pm »
I just installed 8.10 a2 and am having this problem. My remotes are not working and the usbuirt is not transmitting. The light on it flashes red when I am sending a command from the remote but nothing happens. Both the usbuirt and mce remote were properly detected and are listed on the admin website. When I first did the install I was having this problem along with several others, but a reinstall fixed all of the issues except this one.

I installed 7.10 prior to this and I was still having trouble with learning however the mce remote worked as did the usbuirt, provided that I used a blaster.

Any ideas as to what could be causing my issue then? I am going to attempt the fix listed above this and I will post back if it worked.

Thanks in advance for your advice

OK, yet another update. I unchecked the disabled box on the admin website. Still no joy. when I do a quick reload of the router hangs at like 92% and says that it is waiting on the usbuirt to finish starting up. Then it flashes to a black window that says "Some devices connected to this media director did not start properly. You can still"....... then the rest of the message is cut off by the edge of the screen. Then the window goes away.

I unplugged usbuirt and then removed it with the admin website. Also removed the MCE remote. Then plugged usbuirt back in and reloaded the router. I got the same error but both showed up on the admin website.

repeated this process and rebooted. same results.

I repeated this process and installed manually. Wound up with 2 usbuirt and 2 mce remotes listed on admin website. removed one of each and had the same error messages.

If the usbuirt hadn't worked with 7.10 just the other day, I would think that it was broken.

I went back to 7.10 and used the usb-uirt fix described in the wiki. Now things are working smoothly. I am not sure what the hang up was with 8.10 but it was disappointing. It will come though.

lmwashere, your issue has nothing to do with the issue this thread was opened for - the device not starting automatically at boot - which was fixed long ago.  You do NOT need to run the start local devices script manually anymore.  UIRT is PnP for everyone I've heard from in the past few months.

The log section you posted says your device is disabled.  Look at the device page on the web admin and make sure the "disabled" box isn't checked.  Also, you should be looking at the log located at /var/log/pluto/DCERouter.log for hints to what went wrong - not the logging of an instance you started on your own.

rperre, I'm not sure how you have the "exact" same issue, since I don't think lmwashere's issue has been described as an "exact issue", and the issue that the thread was opened for was solved.
