if you are running Alpha1, you need to change your /etc/apt/sources.list file and change references from alpha1 to alpha-latest, then do an apt-get update and an apt-get upgrade. This will essentially take you to alpha2. Now that we have alpha-latest as a pointer to the latest alpha version from now on we won't have to monkey with sources.list.

I tried uppgrading my 8.10 alpha1 with this, and the update stops on pluto-storage-devices_2.0.0.44.0901260810_i386.deb.

That did nothing for me.... Trying a clean install

if you are going to do a clean install, do a clean install of alpha-latest, not alpha1

Just follow the instructions in the wiki for installing alpha1, but use the filename
new-installer-alpha-latest.tar.gz
in place of the old
new-installer-alpha1.tar.bz2

I edited the installer to use alpha-latest instead of alpha1...

You're welcome, but it was mostly the efforts of the tireless testers and a bunch of others (you know who you are, I'd mention names but then I'll probably forget someone that'll feel left out) that made it possible.  Now we just have one hurdle left and that is to get Tschak's Game plugin going.  Then we'll probably need to fix a few more things here and there and it's onwards to the betas! 

So far so good... not bad for a couple of amateurs eh?
