some ideas you might like in your theme:
1) Start replacing some of the stock icons. For example, the house icon on the first security button could be replaced with an icon of the Enterprise, the At Home, Away, Sleeping icons replaced with a teleporter icon in various stages, and texts changed to "Teleported", "Hypersleep", etc...
2) the now-showing media button (first button).. It would be cool if you make it animated to have a little screen with white noise (showing that no media is tuned).. It would only take a few animation frames, and if I remember correctly i saw some animate checkboxes in Designer (though I've never tried them yet myself)
3) (Assuming that you have success with animated designobjs).. On your main screen, in the blank space in the upper right hand corner you can have an animated image of text scrolling in a text terminal (green text on black background?) to give it an ultra high-tech look
just some ideas to try to have some fun with. Anyways, congrats once again, its looking great

fearingsept. Check it out. Now I just have to go back and rename my skin so it doesn't take over the basic... and then add the values in the database to make it right. Thank you soo soo much for your help. This is just one of many ideas I have for new skins and I plan on doing many different themes. I am using UI 1 on my main TV in my house just because I want my house... to be a star ship. ... galaxy class of course. I know its a dream, but one day I will have a space ship house. Very nice work. Would be nice to try this out on 0810 alpha. /niz23

Wow, verrah nice!
Was there a slightly wider variation of this font?
also, for buttons like the ones at the top.. you may want to make a new designObj for those lighting buttons, and put that into a new button array. This will allow you to reposition the text so that it fits comfortably.

Thanks for your suggestions. I still have quite a bit of tweaking to do before I think the skin will be done. One of the things is getting those lighting buttons worked out. I also need to finish making screens and icons. I will most likely ask for help on a few more things before I am finished.

 Hmm. Why is it that I can not see these screen shots? This intrigues me, even though I have not yet been able to see it Regards, Seth

Although I've never seen a Star Trek episode, I have to admit that this is an awesome UI. Have gone through the screencasts myself this week, and it's good to know that when I'm set to give it a try there's hopefully more people than Thom to assist me. Keep up the great work.

Although I'm not really into custom screens or anything (I'm more into fuction than form). I have to say, your work on this is VERY impressive. I find myself eager to see the finished product and I'm actually starting to toy with the idea of trying some of my own modifications on the default skin (Which will undoubtedly result in the complete destruction of my installation yet again. LOL)
Gratz on the outstanding work.

Dale_K,
you will not completely destroy your installation, if you start slow by replacing graphics only.

PS: A VERY BIG applause to fearingsept for the dedication. And for showing how clever the original orbiter implementor have been with the way, they did do things.

@fearingsept,
Just wanted to say congratulations on the excellent work done so far, like some others I thought that it sounded a bit geeky, but have to admit it is looking really good so far.
Keep up the good work it is appreciated by the community
