Hello:
I have recently completed installing my Linux MCE Core. I have put in 2 tuner cards but Sarah can't seem to find them and set them up. One is a Happuage PVR-250 (Old card form a Sage TV build I did a couple years back) and a DViCO HDTV7 Dual Express.
Build looks like this: Motherboard: ECS GeForce7050M-M Proc: Sempron Processor LE-1250 Ram: Corsair TWINX 2GB PC-6400 DDR2 CL5 Additional NIC: D-Link DGE-530T (Love the fact that this guy will go full duplex)
My first thought was that the issue was issue was bad PCI Slots but the NIC is working in both standard PCIs. Not sure if this matters or not but, I do not have any kind of antenna or cable attached to the cards.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated. (Before anyone says it, I know I should have gone with a HDHomeRun but space is a premium and I didn't know it existed until after I made this purchase,)
Thanks...
-Wil

The Pvr 250 should work just fine.
The Divco on the other hand, good luck.

The pvr-250 should be auto-detected. We use these all the time for capturing analog sources so I know this to be the case... and of course many LinuxMCE users who use MythTV use them for the same purpose too. If you are referring to the 'FusionHDTV Dual Digital 4' card then this can be made to work under the 0710 kernel... see here; http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB-T_PCI_Cards#DViCO. We have tested this card and even with the latest linuxtv drivers under the 2.6.22 Kernel you will not get a smooth ride. Since I guess you are in North America the HDHomeRun would definitely be your best choice... All the best Andrew

I'm having a similar problem with a PVR-150. Other devices are auto detected, however not this card. I have tried 2 identical PVR-150 cards so I am positive it's not the card. I can "see" the card listed in the Kubuntu hardware devices list. For those of us that are not getting an autodetected card, such as the supported Hauppauge cards, what can we do? Most of the forum posts stop at "your card should be auto detected, good luck."

Go to Web Admin's Wizard Media Directors page and scroll to the Core or MD with the pvr-150/250 installed and you should see it listed for the machine its in. Andrew

We have tested this card and even with the latest linuxtv drivers under the 2.6.22 Kernel you will not get a smooth ride. I agree with Andrew- I bought the DViCO dual digital 4 card (rev 2) and did not realise that it would have problems with the new drivers on the standard LMCE 710 kernel. The same drivers work on later kernel versions brilliantly- I had to upgrade my kernel to get the card to work. This was pretty involved so I would not recommend it. You might be better off waiting until LMCE 810 is available and stable, as the DViCO tuner should work fine then. If you have a DViCO rev 1 card then this should work fine on the standard LMCE kernel, the problem lies with the kernel support for the USB chips on the rev 2 tuner card. This is one of the biggest problems with building a PVR using Linux- the manufacturers of tuner cards keep changing the designs on us! Just when linux coders have written and debugged a driver for a tuner card, the manufacturers change the card (and don't tell anyone they have) or you can't buy it any more!

Hmmm... well its one of two things I guess; The Card is faulty... possible. Test that by adding it to your MD... does it get detected there? It should. If it does not then I would guess its the card as the chances of two motherboards having a PCI slot failure are pretty remote. The Slot is faulty... If the test above works then that also probably proves that its the PCI slot in your Core (or some kind of IRQ clash possibly) thats causing the problem. We use pvr-150's & 250's all the time and I have yet to see any fail to get detected. All the best and a happy new year! Andrew

As I mentioned earlier, I have 2 identical 150 cards & have tried them both. I just finished swapping slots with a firewire card that is connected to my Sony DVD jukebox. The firewire card is now in the 'old' PVR-150 slot and the jukebox still works fine. However, the PVR-150 was moved to a known, working card slot and is still not "magically being detected." It does not show up in the admin section under the media directors, tuner cards, nor am I getting any sort of on screen message. I re-ran the wizard and there are no cards listed in the inputs section.
This is a brand new, 2 week old install. I am convinced it is a device conflict or a corrupted setting that needs to be dumped. I just don't know where else to look or what else to try. Everybody keeps saying these things are just supposed to work.

Hmmm... well they do 'just work' in my experience. So the implication is that the problem is local to your system. Do the following from the console; lspci -v <return>
You should get some output that looks like mine below (taken from one of our test Core's); dcerouter_31343:~# lspci -v 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 82915G/P/GV/GL/PL/910GL Memory Controller Hub (rev 04) Subsystem: FIRST INTERNATIONAL Computer Inc Unknown device 925d Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0 Capabilities: [e0] Vendor Specific Information

In the output above you will see device '02:04.0' is a pvr-250... you should see something similar for your pvr-150's... of course you should see two pvr-150's in your case. All the best Andrew

Andrew, Here's the result. I've only got one 150 card installed at the moment and it looks like the OS detects it. Hmmm... thats strange. All I can suggest is to reinstall from DVD or alternatively if you have another computer add the pvr-150 to that machine and add that to your current installation. Then see if the card gets detected. Happy new year! Andrew

I had a spare hard drive laying around and I tried a clean install from DVD. Same story. No PVR-150 detection. Is there an external card that will work AND can handle component or composite video signal?

Hi there I had the same problem with my PVR150 card can TSCHAK and the guys helped me out, you need to do the following:
LMCE Admin
Advanced -> Configuration -> device templates -> Haupage -> pvr-interfaces cards -> Pvr-150
Under the plug&play section
Create a new plug&play device duplicating everything but the Vendor Model ID .
Don't save just yet.
Now goto a console and issue the following commands 1. mysql -uroot pluto_main 2. SELECT VendorModelId FROM PnpQueue WHERE VendorModelId LIKE "4444%" GROUP BY VendorModelId;
Select the result and add it to the "Vendor Model ID" pnp section of the PVR-150 Template, now save.
Still under mysql on the console
3. DELETE FROM PnpQueue WHERE VendorModelId LIKE '4444%';
Reboot and LMCE should detect your card.
