Media Director SD
« on: November 18, 2008, 01:54:23 am »
Good day,

What would be the cheapest media director to read various video formats (mpeg2, mpeg4, etc.) with simple TV-OUT (7 pin s-video?) capabilities and probably UI2 capabilities for an SD television? I can also build a box myself if it comes cheaper...

Thank you very much,
Philippe

The MSI Media Live is supported wonderfully out of the box, and can provide a solid upgrade path to HD.

The MSI Media Live is great, it looks nice, just slap a processor and ram in it, enable the boot rom option on the bios... plug it in and turn it on.... just patience while its building the image and 1 quick reload on the core and its up and running.... 1 minor tweak to the web interface to get the lcd running.

Definitely a viable option.  I know newegg carries them.... Don't buy from provantage though.

Hi,

I'd kindly for some more info about MSI MEdia live :
- you're talking about MSI Media Live barebone (whole system including case) ?
- if yes, is there also motherboard alone that would be the same as in barebone to be used in other cases ? I already have a case, and am seeking for well supported motherboard...

Thanks in advance,

regards,

Bulek.

Yes, the barebone, which is based on the (now no longer sold) MS-7329 multimedia motherboard.

By budget's really kind of tight. Aren't there any cheaper solution? If you add tuner cards to the pack, taxes, shipping, etc. for three TVs... it's about 2000$. The MSI Wind PC seems like a good option, do any of you have suggestions for the connexion with the SD TVs? Furthermore, is an old 700mhz HP computer enough for a core, considering that I'll probably be recording or watching at least four feeds at the same time?

Thanks,
Philippe

I wanted to try one of these but everyone is saying it's discontinued.

Anybody know anything about this, is it a dead product, is a replacement coming out, anything?

I only see the mobo's on newegg, not the barebone machine.  Would you be kind enough to post a link to the barebone?

Any thoughts for a cheaper MD?

Oh wow, they're gone off newegg....  Few other places too! .... Hmm... there's 1 on ebay at the moment...

I guess they discontinued them, and they're selling the motherboards, what a shame its a nice looking case/package.

Taking another look at ebay the guy selling them says 'More than 10 available ' in Quantity, get em before their extinct!

The Media Live Barebones was discontinued several months back... but there were a load in the channel so they are only now getting hard to find.
