Is this working?
« on: November 08, 2008, 12:20:13 pm »
I've the following constellation:

1. Room
--------
1x Receiver
1x MD

2. Room
--------
1x Receiver
1x Squeezebox

My problem is, that the MD in Room #1 is controlling both Receiver, the one in Room #1 and the one in Room #2. How do I assign the Rooms and Entertainment Areas correctly.

I tried to assign Receiver #1 and MD to Room #1, Receiver #2 and Squeezebox to Room #2. Set "controlled by" for both Receiver to MD #1. But when I choose Room #2, It doesn't control the Receiver #2, instead it controls Receiver #1.

I'm little bit confused here, can someone please give me a hint how to solve that problem. For me it looks like I'm not setting up the audio/video pipes correctly...

Thanks in advance,
eNoodle

As standard the expected configuration is that you will have one MD controlling the Amplifier/Receiver in each room (see threads here for some customisation on this though). However in your system you could just use the Squeezebox to deliver a audio to one of the receivers inputs and then you can control the squeezebox from the Room 1 MD or your Core. With the squeezebox in Room 2 you could look at using a headless amplifier with a fixed level input (or powered speakers) and then just use the volume control from the Orbiter to control the Squeezeboxes volume level.

All the best

Thank you Andrew.

Does that mean, that I need a second MD in Room #2, if I want to control the Squeezebox Receiver?

For Room #2, I currently have the Squeezebox controlled by the SlimServer and the Receiver controlled by the MD in Room #1. Shouldn't this work. For me it looks looks like a similar problem described in the wiki (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Rooms), where two EAs exists and they share a DVD. But regardless, what I setup, either I do not get the Audio scenarios for Room #2 or the system is controlling the stuff from Room #1, if I choose Room #2.

Hmm, I've to dig deeper into that problem, hope that I can get it to work.

We always create a separate 'room' for each Squeezebox by the way. You can then use any MD in your system, or an Orbiter on a mobile phone, N800/810 or a Windows PC to control your squeezeboxes by just setting them to the Room that any of your Squeezeboxes is in and - choose some music and the Squeezebox will start streaming it :-)
