The Documentation states a MCE Core requires 2 Network Cards; one for the Internal LAN and the other to connect to your Internet Router. What I was wondering was instead of having an Network Card and seperate Router would you be able to replace one of the cards with a PCI ADSL Modem and use that to connect to the Internet - Would the Internal LAN firewall etc still work also for this type of configuration or would the whole box be open to the world?

I bet you could just do a setup like this:

Internet -> Cablemodem/DSL device -> firewall (linksys or some other) -> LinuxMCE core server -> internal network with clients

Then on the firewall use port forwarding for SIP calls (UDP 5060) and any other ports you'd need to the LinuxMCE box.  You would probably need to edit the config on the core system to let it know there is another hop before it going to the internet.

this is a FAQ.

And yes, nosebreaker is correct. That works, too. Don't forget RTP for SIP.

best regards,
