AV Wizard does not show on TV
« on: November 03, 2008, 04:38:22 am »
The AV Wizard shows up on my monitor but when i connect my computer to my TV i can only get the AV wizard to come up in 640x480.    I have completed the the AV wizard but i can not reset the settings for MCE to HDMI 1080i 70 refresh.
Any particular reason this is occurring?
I have a 50 TOSHIBA DLP tv and my video card is a geforce6200 OC 256MB PCI using HDMI to DVI

Could it because the video card does not have HDCP?

No, the AV Wizard only sends out video through your computer's VGA port... so if you're going to change things around, just connect a monitor to your VGA output, re-run the AV Wizard, select your new output method, and you're done.

You can get the AV Wizard to re-run by either going to the KDE Desktop and clicking on the Video tab in the LMCE Control Panel, and selecting change? I'm not sure exactly what you have to click to force a restart into the AV Wizard, but it should be obvious.... or, you can restart the computer and hold the left shift key right after the first set of tones (you should hear some kind of sound acknowledgment and then you can let go of the left shift key) and that will trigger the AV Wizard.

Good luck!

Markstamp.

You may have to change settings in your xorg.conf file.  There's alot of posts and alot of approaches from using the EDID settings to run in native resolution to having the required display settings programmed as default.

To get my 1080p display to run natively I just changed the 2 useEDID settings to true.

Good luck.

As he says, change UseEDID to true in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf then post your /var/log/xorg.0.log here. Also look in the mythtv modeline database for your display

Well in fact you can select the 'output' connector for the AVwizard using a keyboard. The AVwizard can be forced to use any of your MD's outputs see here; http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/AVWizard#What_to_do_if_A.2FV_Wizard_does_not_start
