looking to install linuxmce
« on: November 05, 2008, 01:49:37 am »
Hi I am just getting into an install for my house and wondering what I would need to have multiple tvs each on different cable boxes and each would have there own media directors to be able to watch different channels as live tv?

Please read the FAQ on the wiki. In the mean time, I can tell you that LinuxMCE can do what you want in this case.

thanks for your quick response but I did not see how it is done, I am asumming that each media director has an input and you connect the cable STB to the media director is that correct?  Also on the core system I am assuming that I would not need a tuner card or a vidoe card?

Tuner cards can be placed anywhere in the house, on the core, on media directors, or in the case of networked tuners such as the recommended HDHomeRun, anywhere on the network. The core does need a video card, and a monitor for installation, however, you can disable the media station aspect in the launch manager after installation.

Again, please read the FAQ. A lot of potential questions are answered there.
