I'm so excited to have found this site.  I stumbled across Linux MCE while browsing ebay, of all places, LOL.  This system kinda reminds me of a Car Computer I assembled for my Lexus SC400 several years back.  I can't wait to start working on my system.  It sounds like I can make it emulate an HAI system.  I was looking at that and the prices they wanted for the system, and was hoping to find something a little more economical.  This definitely looks like something I could do myself.  I hope to be posting here in the future when I get a little bit of time off from work and have time to actually do some of these upgrades.  Has anyone mounted a touchscreen interface into the wall or anything for a command center type interface?  That would be an awesome setup if so.  I wonder if one could put multiple touchscreens around the house (like one in the kitchen for recipes and etc).  I'm sure one could make it do whatever he/she wanted to make it do.  Maybe I should brush up on my C.  LOL.  Definitely exciting.  I wish the forum were structured a little better to make the information more accessible, like in categories.  Like MP3car.com forums are structured.  I look forward to discussing all of this later.

Hi Emdoubleyou,

Hope you have fun. For your initial research, it might be better to start at the Wiki rather than the forum;
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Main_Page

Maybe the user manual and Hardware guides are good starting places...;

There are plenty of options for controlling your home. Take a look at the Orbiters section http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Orbiters. There are plenty of tested devices such as web pads, mobile phones etc. I use a Nokia n810 via Wifi which works well  http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Category:Orbiters. Keep in mind these operate with the UI1 interface.

Cheers,
WR

Cool. I'm definitely looking into it when I get home.  Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!  I've been looking through the wiki and it seems pretty comprehensive.  I know where I'll be spending my free time.  LOL.
