Thanks for the tip, Dave... I was traveling this weekend and just had time to give it a shot.

Things move along fine for a while.  I now see the warning screen come up that asks which drive to use for the install and warns that all data will be removed, but the install just goes on without waiting for input... maybe because there's only one hard drive in the system, and it's brand new (empty).

Some text flies by after that and the last line of output is:

Running local boot scripts (/etc/rc.local)             [OK]

There are several warnings above that about files not found and directories that don't exist.  I'm not going to have much time to wrestle with this in the next few weeks, so I think I might just wait for the next version of Linux MCE and try again.  I know the Hardy livecd will boot on the machine, so I'm hoping that will be less of a struggle.

Thanks,
Mark

I have the MB working in Fedora 9, and everything is pretty much working pretty well.

I haven't tried doing anything with HDMI-Audio, but I have a pretty highend sound card also installed in this box.

I have been having problems with USB.  I have a USB Remote (lirc_mceusb2) that I am trying to use, and it works for alittle bit, and then it seems to lock up the entire USB bus.  Has anyone seen this?

Hi all,

I am using Ubuntu and I am trying to set up dual monitors, but I have trouble doing so with the graphics processor that comes with the mobo. Has anyone been able to do this? If so, how?

Best,

LKS

Dual monitors are not supported in LMCE. You say Ubuntu, that isn't used for LMCE either, it is Kubuntu. Are you trying to setup LMCE?

dave - are you posting in the right thread? The original question was about dual monitors, and I was just pointing out that LMCE's interface isn't setup to use them, plus the guy was talking about Ubuntu which we don't use any more for LMCE.... your post looks like you thought you were posting in a different thread....

If you can run Kubuntu-8.04 without problems, you might want to try this experimental release: http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Hardy-iglu although it probably won't give you a fully functional system just yet.

Colin,

Yep! I read that part as well. If you read this whole thread there are quite a few other issues not relating to LMCE and this mainboard as well. I was in my post just trying to say what I have done or not done with this board for people using this with LMCE or something else.

My point about searching on google is when you search google about this mainboard and anything LINUX related, seems to point to this forum for discussion. I did not mean to h/j the dual monitor reply at all, just trying to say that all points linux with this mainboard related lead back to the LMCE forum.

 rgds,

 Dave

Sorry Dave, my bad - I didn't look closely enough at the top of the page, at first I thought lukis100's post what the first in the thread!

I just installed kubuntu 8.04.1 on the board w/o extra graphics.
First boot doesn't give X, I had to boot in the service mode and install build-essentials and the nvidia-driver (177.80).
After that, X starts up fine, detecting the monitors resolution correctly (1280x1024), and uses the 3D-openGL-screens.
I agree that the desktop stutters sometimes and doesn't feel smoothly.
I'll try the LMCE-betas, thanks for the link.
