Hi,

did anyone successfully create a Media Scenario for one (favorite) shoutcast stream?
When I try to do this through the web GUI, choosing the type "audio file" and entering the URL mms://89.149.208.205:7070, Xine starts, opens the stream and then fails at 30% as shown in the log:

05      07/14/08 22:10:50.514           Opening media without chapters/title position: mms://89.149.208.205:7070  <0xb6c91b90>

05      07/14/08 22:11:20.712           Xine_Stream::OpenMedia failed! Aborting! <0xb6c91b90>

This happens for every one of the few streams I tried. Previously I tried linking to the pls file and that didn't work at all.

If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know.

Hi,

maybe for a start - you could switch to KDE desktop and try with stock Xine to do this. If this works, then try the same under LMCE...

Bulek.
Thanks in advance,

Jean - there is a wiki article on how to set up pls files as media scenarios to play internet radio. It definitely works, I have had my 2 favourites set up and working in the past. Sorry can't remember what the article is called but search for internet radio or pls

Thanks Dave. That's what happens when just once I search the forum but forget to search the wiki :-)
This is the page you are referring to: http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Internet_Radio

And my mistake was that in this particular case we need to use http:// and not mms://

Works like a charm now.

Sorry colinjones, I got some screennames confused :-)

After playing with these media scenarios, I have several non working streams (audio and video) in my media database. They show up for example when browsing for media on the orbiter.
What is the proper way to delete such entries (entries that are not attached to physical media files on my LMCE system I guess)? I tried the delete feature on the orbiter which seemed to have no effect, and I didn't find anything appropriate in the Web Admin.

Thanks.

Jean

Not sure I follow, Jean.... If you have just created a media scenario to trigger a MH Play operation against the pls stream, then you should just be able to delete that media scenario and regen your orbiters to get rid of it. But you sound like you are saying there is something in your media grid as well.... don't get that bit.... what is it?

What happens is that everytime I create a Media Scenario, LMCE will create a corresponding entry in the media database that has all my media listed (movies, musics, pictures etc). I guess that's a good idea because it lets you call this file later on from the video/audio screens in any orbiter, and you can even put them into playlists.
But now I have lots of entries in there for shoutcast streams, video streams etc from all my attempts to setup Media Scenarios in the last few weeks, many of which are non functional.
The question is how to delete these. Deleting the media scenario does not seem to delete the entry. Actually each time you change the filename within a media scenario, it creates a new entry, and keeps the old one.

The DB I'm talking about is pluto_media.Files

Sorry Jean, I am not that familiar with creating media scenarios - I haven't noticed it create new entries in the media database, only the extra button in the UI so that I could trigger internet radio streams... maybe someone else can help
