well... hi..

i installed kubuntu 7.10 full and downloaded the 2 install cds for linuxmce.

i installed the package and got the shortcut for the mce installation on the desktop. everything fine till here.

now i run the install and answer all the questions and take the settings. then i have to insert disk 1 of mce install or choose image. i insert the cd and it starts with "caching disk 1"

it is caching arround ~20 minutes now... nothing happens...

i just want to know if this is normal or i got a problem here...

Hi,

That's about normal, you should see HDD light activity occasionally.

If you get a caching failure the easier thing to do is copy your iso's MCE disk 1 & 2 and the Kubuntu iso file to your HDD.

Then when running the MCE installer point to where the iso files are in the browser.

This will save you a couple of hours.

Cheers.

During the several CD installs I did, I witnessed the same thing, copying the iso's for all 3 discs resolved the issue. But if at all possible use the DVD. So much less painfully slow, and it gives you the same results. If you have a drive that can be cleared, or erased I recommend this method. Much faster, more like the video, and you don't have to worry about the caching issues.
Wink
