Where to find MD install archives?
« on: July 12, 2008, 09:01:04 am »
Hi,

I did an install of 7.10 from the CD ISO images.

In the /usr/pluto/install directory there seems to be only one MD image, for i386.

Where are the other images?  Are they in the DVD ISO image?  Or are they downloadable from somewhere?  Or are they hiding somewhere?

I'll even take just a nudge in the right direction...  ???

Thanks,
.  Topher

Ah.  Yes.  Thanks!

So, that gets me the amd64 image.  I don't see the via image in there.  Is that available anywhere?

There is no specific Via image... after all they are just X86 processor based. However if your Via based machine has a Via based GPU then you will need to add Via graphics drivers... and you will need to add these by hand currently. Search the forum & wiki for some background on Via graphics drivers. So far under 0710 these do not support the OpenGL features needed by UI2... but you may be able to get them working adequately for UI1 (under 0704 we had UI1 working pretty well).

Under 0804 we may see this change as the new Open Source Via drivers will be available and there is some optimism that they will allow for much better support of the special features in Via's GPU's.

All the best
