Hi,

From reading installation instructions on mythTV installing applification signal is important:

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV_Nova-T_500_PCI

When I run their command:

linuxmce@dcerouter:~$ sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/options

I get

sudo: gedit: command not found

Any ideas?

Use vi or nano instead.
Basically gedit is a texteditor.

like sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/options
Quit and save with "Ctrl-X y".

If it does not work. use vi and read up on command syntax how to use it.
