Look nice but you will get into trouble getting the integrated sis graphics to work.
Had an asus motherboard with the same chipset and was unable to make it work with lmce other than using UI1.
Video plyback was very poor too. Most likely because of the drivers.

This unit might work fine under UI1 purely as an Orbiter ie no local video playback just use it as an in-wall Orbiter remote control. The SIS chipsets should be avoided for Media Directors as they currently do not have good driver support.

All the best

Andrew,
Do you know any good wall mount TouchPanel? Size doesn't matter, as long as it is bigger than 10.4 inches.

Andrew,
Do you know any good wall mount TouchPanel? Size doesn't matter, as long as it is bigger than 10.4 inches.

There are many discreet touch screen/panel suppliers and their screens use several different technologies - IR, capacitance, pressure-barrier etc. However they all have standard VGA video inputs and they use either USB or Serial for the control interface. Most will emulate a mouse/tablet so they are transparent to the OS/application running on the device. Therefore you can combine these screens with a low power Intel/Via motherboard and then integrate the whole assembly into a wall mounted enclosure.

See this UK supplier for example products/prices; http://www.primemark.com/epos/product_info.php?cPath=67&products_id=900&cD=ELO%201537L%20Rear%20Mount%20Touch%20Screen

Hope this helps

In the next version there will be full support for ELO, 3m/Planar and (not fully tested) eGalax touchscreens. The ELO screen linked works very well. The eGalax driver support the screens on the popular HTPC boxes and it works but there seem to be some issues that make it flakey, needing double taps and other weird responses to taps. We didn't have the time to figure the problems out and moved on the the ELO which works very reliably. The eGalax issues are on the must do list however.

UI2 is missing essential buttons for use with a touch screen. UI1 works fine. Is this for control or control+media playback?

All the touch screens we use all ready work fine without any drivers or other software issues. We only use UI1 with touchscreens... UI2 is really not optimised for touch screens at all.

Yes, I try to do Media + Control. This is going to put in my living room, would like to hook up with security camera if people press a door bell.

Also, are all those ELO touch panel work? I have seen a lot of them will fit my application.

What is the different between Accutouch, CarrollTouch and IntelliTouch? Which one is the best?

"Best" is a function of what you need it for. These are all commercial so some are for food service, some are for machinery, some are for Kiosks and ATM's. Each have different requirements. The ones stocked the most are the resistive touch screens. These are also the most fragile and the cheapest. The acoustic ones are nicer, have a sharper image (no resistance matrix in front of the screen) and more durable but more money and rarely a stocked item. However I have been buying them from eBay at good prices. Elo has a lot of info on their site that will help you.

1audio has already answered your question for me ;-)

I would suggest looking at low power motherboards (with fanless ideally) that have nVidia/ATI/Intel onboard graphics. Intel i945GM or i965GM would be fine graphically... they will handle UI1 or UI2 + Overlay but you may struggle to find a fanless implementation (look at Celeron-M with passive cooling)
