AVWizard video setup problem
« on: April 18, 2008, 06:39:20 pm »
I have bulit a system with a Nvidia video card connected to my projector through component cable. Everything was working fine with UI2. When I ran AVWizard once more to resize the display strange things started to happen. I have tried a lot of different things, and now I can not get the transparency to work. The projector runs in 420i instead of 720p, and when I run AVWizard and switch to component mode, I just get a garbled screen.

Is there some kind of way to revert the video settings to "factory default"? Some of the settings are obviously stored somewhere else than in xorg.conf and xorg.conf.pluto.avwizard, because whatever I change, the settings pops up again.

I have not been able to find any documentation on how the video settings for the system are stored, somany information on this would be greatly appreciated.

You don't say if your running 0704  or 0710... but either way if the projector is connected to the Hybrid/Core the simplest solution might be to re-install from the DVD but but retain your /home setup. If the projector is connected to an MD... then just delete the MD in Web Admin and then power it up again and let it auto re-add itself and your back at 'factory default' ;-)

I'm sorry about not being specific enough.

I installed 0710 from the installation DVD.
The projector is connected to the hybrid/core.

You suggest to reinstall from the DVD, and keep the /home setup. As far as I can remember, the first thing the DVD does is to reformat the whole drive. How do I do a reinstallation without whiping the whole drive?

Also I'm a bit worried about this happening again. I'll prefer to find a solution to the problem rather than keeping having to reinstalling the system all the time,...

Well, I ended up with a reinstallation. Everythings works fine now, and I have learnt a thing or two. Hopefully I won't need to do it too often,...

Well thats good news! I mislead you somewhat when I mentioned the option to retain your /home & settings as this is only in later DVD builds than Beta4 I think.
