Need help choosing hardware.
« on: April 16, 2008, 03:08:23 pm »
After watching the LinuxMCE video review and after using mythtv alone for a while I would really like to build a linuxmce system. My funding and variety of parts is not too limited. What I have now . . . Antec SOHO file server case, enermax 720 watt power supply, 4gigs ddr2 ram, pci-x 3ware 4pt sata raid controller, lga775 e2160 processor, dvd burner, hauppauge pvr-500. I would like to have a seperate mini-itx media director ...

I guess all I really need is a motherboard with a pci-x slot that supports lga775 and ddr2 ram...i tried to set up a test system for pxe booting on my laptop before i invested in additional hardware and I had alot of trouble getting my laptop to boot off the core, it would always hang at some point such as "ip-config"

I was thinking of 4x750gb hds for the pci-x raid card.

ASUS M2NPV-VM AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6150 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Brisbane 2.7GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor Model ADO5200DOBOX
