Anyone viewing Bluray disc with LMCE?
« on: April 13, 2008, 03:48:34 pm »
Hi I've read a few discussions about bluray and LMCE. So my question is: Is there anyone out there about to actually watch bluray discs with any version of LMCE and what did you do to get it to work.  When i search the Wiki i didnt see anything too helpful.

Thanks

Well i have not personally used the Blueray side of LinuxMCE. But my understanding is that Blueray discs have to be ripped first and cannot currently be played directly from the Blueray drive. Also currently the discs menu structure and chapter navigation is not available after being ripped. Blueray discs ripped to the Core take in the region of 50-60Gb per movie too.

yes, thats my understanding, but I cant even get a Bluray disc to rip. I recently bought a Bluray drive to try it out, but when it tries to rip, it just says the rip was successful right away.  I have the the space to rip, but not the results.

Hmmm... ok. I would suggest that you Mantis that and one of the Devs will get in touch.

I'm having the same issue with 'The Fugitive' (the only Blu-ray disc I've got). It immediately returns successful but obviously hasn't ripped.  I've been looking at other issues and haven't gotten a chance to go into this one.  Part of the problem is that the Blu-ray AACS/BD+ standards are still giving the community difficulties in decoding.  AFAIK, the Slysoft team is the only one that claims to have cracked BD+ to allow backups

Same issue here.  I was working with tkmedia who is getting past the rip but can't play the ripped media.  Not sure if it is an amd64 issue for me or if it is an issue with the mark version or BD+ on my only movie.  Anyone know of a list of movies with the type of encryption and version?

edit:  I just verify my MKB version is 4, known to not work yet.  :(

I'd still love to get a list of movies and their MKB versions so I can buy a v1/v3 movie and test.
