Hi, I have an external usb sound that I would like to use rather than my on-board.  LinuxMCE defaults to the on-board and I really would like to know how to choose the usb over the on-board.  I looked around in the sound system area in system settings, but I am unfamiliar with KDE.  Any help?

you could start by disabling onboard sound in the bios and making sure the usb one has drivers for linux.

It is disabled in bios.  Linux found a way to bypass that toggle.  Driver yes, I've used it in unbuntu with 5.1 sound too.

Hi,

few options to try :

- try to disable kernel driver modules for unwanted card
- try to change order of sound card (LMCE will probably grab your first sound card...) - you can perhaps explore kernel module options..

HTH,

regards.
