Hi,

since I have pretty complex setup, I'd like to confirm if this problem happens only to me or is general in 710b4.

1. Play some audio playlist (probably video too)
2. incoming call comes to onscreen Orbiter and ends media, so after call you cannot continue with media

Can anyone confirm this behaviour ?

Thanks in advance,

regards,

bulek.

Bulek,

did you ever find the solution to this? I have the same problem in 0710 RC1 while using Myth tv. Incoming call just kills MythTV, and returns to main GUI screen (the screen for incoming call doesn't even stay on, it exits as well).

It's a pitty because this works in the demo and it's one of the reasons why I switched away from my traditional PVR.

To the developers: if there is some fixed/newer code in the source repository that will run on my 0710 RC1, I'll be happy to try that out if you tell me which files to update.

I noticed that it works as intended on one of my 32 bit machines, whereas the machine where it is failing is a AMD 64 bits (MSI Media Live).
Could the people above specify if it's working/failing on 32 bit or 64 bit install? I'd like to find out if I'm on the right track here, or if there is another difference between those 2 machines that I should be looking for.

Thanks.

Mine is a 32bit core, and it exhibits this behaviour as well on RC2

So we know that it's not the platform that makes a difference, how about this: what user interface are you guys running? I run UI2 with OpenGL but no alphablending.
I noticed that when a call comes in, the simplephone screen will briefly showup (less than a second) then dissapear. I can still hear the ringing of the phone on the MD, but don't see the phone. I then tried doing this while in KDE desktop, and went through all the open applications while the phone was ringing on the MD. The one that normally shows the phone is OrbiterGL, but in this case OrbiterGL only showed the Ui menu, but no phone screen (yet the phone was ringing).
So I believe that the problem is that the phone application is starting properly, just not showing up on the screen. This happens when I am watching TV, a video, or even playing music.

If I am doing nothing and just idle at the main screen, then the phone screen shows up and everything works as expected.

I noticed the same behavior on a tablet Orbiter (running UI1) that controls this MD. If the MD is running video, the orbiter does not show the phone screen when the phone rings. If the tablet Orbiter is at the main screen even though the MD is playing video (meaning I started the video via the tablet orbiter, then clicked on home on the tablet orbiter to get back to its main screen) then the phone is shown!

Any suggestions are welcome as usual...

Jean - I'm in a "change freeze" at the moment! Until I get my head around some of the questions I have been asking you, and some others that are forming I don't want to tinker.... at the moment my calls are transferred directly to a wifi SIP phone extension. It rings not the orbiter so I can't check your experience just yet. But from memory, when it was ringing on the orbiter, it definitely stops play back, and does not restart afterwards, but I cannot recall whether the orbiter phone comes up. Now it is going to the wifi phone, it doesn't stop playback at all (assuming this is normal).

I'm using UI2/overlay, same as you. Why not tail the dcerouter.log when you receive and end the calls, and see if it is sending a command to resume the media, I'm presuming this is how it implements it. Maybe it is sending it, but not to the right device or something like that.

I guess my last posts ween't perfectly clear perhaps.
At this point, I'm not complaining that the media isn't resuming (which it isn't) but even more importantly, the phone screen isn' even showing up. That's the first problem I would like to address.

I also just tried it in UI1 and UI2 with alpha blending, and it isn't working either, so the UI is not the reaosn apparently.

golgoj4: can you confirm that if you receive an ibound call while watching a video, tv or music, then the media will stop and the phone screen will show up?

Hi All,

I don't have an external VoIP setup currently but just tested with the n810 orbiter and can't cannot duplicate the problem. Calling extension 200 from the n810 pauses the media, allows you to complete the call, then after ending (dropping) the call - auto-resumes. Very handy. ;D

Confirmed this with;
  • Live TV (Myth)
  • Recorded TV (via Myth)
  • Audio playlists
  • Ripped DVD and AVI files from the HDD

I'm using a Hybrid setup currently (no MD) so that might be part of it?

Anyway - sorry if this is no help but thought you may want confirmation. I'm using UI2 with overlay on 0710 RC2 (see auto-sig for more)

Cheers,
WR.

The phone screen shows up on all my inbound calls. Media pauses until I answer or it goes to voicemail. Unpauses the media once the call is complete.

I am using LinuxMCE 7.10RC2 with UI1 32bits.  I tried to play music.  Screen is on remote page with all playing information.  Then, I dialed in.  The screen pop up incoming call notice and pause the music.  After the phone is over, the music continue its work right away.

I hope this helps.

Bluek, Thanks for your voip setting information.  Your method works amazingly.

Best regards,
Charlie.
