The easiest way to power Cisco 7970 (have no power adapter)
« on: April 08, 2008, 09:34:35 pm »
Hi,

I bought 7970 and they mostly sell without power adapter. These units have POE (Power Over Ethernet), but have read somewhere that Cisco has its own modified way of POE and that under standard POE, screen will be darker... Is this true ? How do you power your Cisco ?

What would be easiest way to power Cisco 7970 (POE - any adapters for this, any generic power supplies....) ?

Thanks in advance,

regards,

Bulek.

the PoE will not leave a darker screen no matter which type (cisco or IEEE). cisco claims that both will work with the phone, but i tried a cisco injector and could not get the phone to work. i used the IEEE standard one from sonicwall and it worked fine. you could try an IEEE standard injector and see if the screen is bright enough for you.
