Beta 4, no internet no DVD playback.
« on: March 11, 2008, 08:36:56 am »
Ok. So I just installed this for the first time.
I first want to add that while I was installing it, after it got done saying coping dvd the screen went black for... some time. But then everything came back on again. Not sure if that's a flaw or not.

Anyways. At no point did it ask me how I wanted to connect to the internet/net work. I have a wireless card and a hard wired card and it has not used ether of those. My main reason for wanting that is I need to be able to some how send files to that box from across the network.

Also when I put a dvd in it made it sound like I don't have the codecs for that. Do I have to install dvd a dvd codec?

If anyone could help I would be greatful.

The black screen during install is normal... the screen automatically blanks after a period of inactivity. You need to configure your WAN/LAN setup in Web Admin. Search the forum for threads on setting up WAN/LAN access... also look on the Wiki.

You need to use the Orbiter's Add Software button in the Advanced Screen. Once the Add Software screen appears select 'LibDVDcss' & W32 Codecs'. However you need to have your external access setup correctly before this screen will show any software options.
