As you are most likely aware, LIRC also supports some infrared transmitters. I was wondering if there are any plans to support these in the future, as these could offer a much cheaper option compared to some of the comercial units.

If there is not current support could you suggest the best approach for adding something?  It seems to me that lirc listens on a socket.  It should be as easy as writing to the socket with the correct lirc configuration.

As I don't have a gc100 this would be a show stopper for me using pluto.  I need control of my dish receiver.

I would suggest at least adding support for the basic homebrew serial transmitter.
