Power Management

Just a question.  Does Linux/Pluto have any power management options? (i.e. spin down of hard discs when not in use, etc)

I haven't built my core yet but I keep wondering if all of the hard drives will keep spinning even if nothing is recording.

We didn't focus on power management. You could try it manually though if you have your way around Linux.

Hi,

I'm alos interested in this discussion - so would kindly invite others to discuss. I also think that running 160W PC all the time is a bit of waste...

I plan to do the following :
- have 1 HD with system
- have 2 HDs in RAID for /home directory with spinning down when not necessary (I guess I'll have to move /logs and possibly other directories that get frequently written)

I plan to use CT479 mobile processor adapter on my ASUS MB to get much lower power consumption.... Is anyone aware of any other low priced desktop mobile combo ?

Any other ideas or better solutions ?

Regards,

Rob.
