woundering if anyone has experience controlling lmce with an uirt or something using a univseral direct tv remote (rc34)...  looking to give it a try but if some else is able to walk through it makes my life much easier

Hmmm... no sorry. We have usbuirt's but we're not using that remote (we're using MCE remotes)

well ill be giving it a try....  in theory i should be able to hook it up, capture the commands coming off of the remote and then load them into the lirc right??

Yup, in theory, you should.

You can also create a GSD/Ruby device to handle that too
I'm getting closer to that with my bidirectional Ruby code..
where the GSD will fire events based on IR commands sent from a standard remote..
Ideally, we could potentially 'learn' the keys and save them in the configuration.

Ahh, if only I had more time..
