Any possible substitude for Hauppauge?
« on: January 30, 2008, 02:52:44 am »
I'm very excited about the idea of building a HTPC using Linux MCE as my OS, although, i can't find (at least not easily) some of the known hardware that are compatible to it because i'm not in U.S

Here in Brazil i don't have easy access to any Hauppauge solution for video recording, for instance.
Everywhere around the wiki, there are great references to Hauppauge cards, but i could not find it anywhere. Would a PixelView's PlayTV MPEG 8000GT be a good choice or i should look for another one?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance!
Best Regards from Rio!

What you need to check on is whether the Connextant chip on the card is supported by MythTV. Some Google time should reveal the secret. In Brazil what TV standard and formats are used? Do you have HDTV available? If we know more we may be able to suggest more options.
