Hello all,
I have been waiting for the next LMCE release for a while now and just saw that the beta 3 came out. Can I update from the previouse version to the newest without loosing data? I have not turned my LMCE core on for some time now due to the myth tv issues I was having. I just want to know if I can update without spending a great deal of time and without loosing my meida.

If you download Beta3 and install it over your LinuxMCE-704 installation your old installation will be detected and any MD's or other standard devices plus you media in /home/public/data will be preserved... or at least it should be. Remember this is still a beta release and there are still issues and bugs in it... and there maybe bugs/issue in upgrading like I describe above.

So make sure you have a backup before you do the above

When 710 is released, will my 704 system do an automatic upgrade?

I upgraded 0710 Beta 2 (i386) to Beta 3 (AMD64) from DVD. All preferences and customization (except VFD display module which was compiled from the sources) were saved. Moreover, all media content was saved too. But it's definitely good idea to do backup all important data including database backup.

I *think* my network settings were re-set to the DVD defaults after I did a 704 to 710b3 upgrade.
But they were easy enough to change back.
