Too slowww!
I've already carved them both away! Pretty pleased with the result actually! I trimmed the left off the HDMI connector and right off the SPDIF connector and they fit perfectly now! I wasn't sure what I would find inside the HDMI, but was assuming shielding - I trimmed it, and would you believe, by complete chance I cut perfectly between the plastic and the shield, didn't even scrape it nor leave any plastic on it - maybe a good omen
Both cut like butter!
Yes, that is me - I'm getting very depressed about the video thing. RichardP is trying to help me, but I think he is really busy at the moment.
I've utterly convinced myself that a chipset that is sold with its main feature being PureVideo and the capability of playing HDMI (with HDCP) content,
should be able to handle the flickr images in the screensaver at
least!Yes, its not the fastest in the world, but it definitely should be able to handle TV, DVDs and mpg files with plenty of room to spare - wouldn't you say?
It definitely looks like a timing/syncing issue - but I think I have modified my opinion somewhat on it after very closely watching the quality over time and many sources. DVDs, mpgs and even live TV(!) all seem to have a significantly slower frame rate than the screen refresh. I have no idea how to interrogate Xine to tell me what it is achieving (anybody know?) but anecdotally I would say somewhere between 12 and 18 frames per second. Thus, especially with live TV, implying that it is dropping frames somewhere. Either way, this would certainly explain a syncing issue if it can't keep up with refresh rate...
BUT I don't know why.... it seems universal across sources and content, from low bit rate to very high bit rate (although I feel that it does get worse with the higher bit rate stuff). But even normal SD TV, it makes it almost unwatchable. But for the most part, CPU is not maxing out, generally in 1080pUI2Overlay the most it goes is 60% in top (its a dual core, so I'm assuming that this is really 30%??) but for basic stuff, between 10 and 20%....
Any thoughts?
