0710b3 AMD64: Screen blanks out
« on: January 19, 2008, 11:59:33 pm »
I was running LinuxMCE 0704 without any problems until recently somehow I corrupted my root directory. Anyway I digress:
I am running
Amd64 4200+
Patriot Extreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
Foxconn C51XEM2AA Motherboard
MSI NX8500GT-TD256E GeForce 8500GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16

I put the dvd-install in and select the "install 0710b3 AMD64"
then the screen (a 17" crt monitor) goes blank as if it isnt receiving a signal and stays that way. The DVD drive still reads for about a min, and then that is it.  Anyone else have this problem? I let it sit, so I will go back and check on it in a second to see if anything has changed.  I put in a 0704 DVDinstall disc in to see what happens, and no problems with the screen blanking on me.

I will update with anything new. Any insight would be appreciated.

I am thinking maybe its the video card, but I dunno:(

Well I borrowed a video card from a friend's computer and yep, its my stupid MSI Video card. Dunno why it has been causing me so much trouble, but I am not sure what my friends card is. I know its an nvidia, but I cant seem to find the series # or model #. Eitherway
MSI NX8500GT-TD256E GeForce 8500GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16
is the culprit.

THanks,
Alex
