Intel e2180 Core suggestions???
« on: January 11, 2008, 05:37:10 am »
Is anyone using an Intel e2180 CPU as a core? I'm wondering what mobo will work well with the chip and LMCE as a core not a hybrid. I really want o have SATA RAID 1 support and gigabit LAN onboard. I am currently a direct TV subscriber and would love to put 4 PCI capture cards in one core with an e2180. I am planning on using cards that do hardware encoding so the CU should not have to do much while recording. Pleas comment on your experience with the 32180 chip as a core I would also love to see system specs and power usage if you have them.

I use an e2140 but also have a e2180 I have used in it with no problems. I havn't set this server up with linuxmce yet, but it functions fine with kubuntu 7.10/Fedora 8, and mythtv/asterix/transcoders/web so I see no issues with linuxmce with it
my specs for it are on the myth user page here:

hmm didn't think you could get DirectTV via DVBS..
Isn't that DigiCIPHER?  If so, at minimum, you'll need a CAM..
Just querying..
